Have Google Host Your Landing Page

This is deceitful and I don’t recommend it.  However I found this and I want all the credit for it.

Step 1: Read Shoemoney’s post on how to Game Adwords with Google Redirects.

Step 2: Read my post on how to Hide Google Cache Label.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

Instead of pointing your Adwords campaign to an “I’m feeling lucky” page, you’ll use Google’s cached page of your site as a permanent landing page.  It will be a lot more credible than using their normal cache page.

Why am I not doing this?  Well, because I’m a wussy that doesn’t want their Adwords account canceled.  I like making money!

Why am I posting this?  This is my attempt at linkbait!

Hide Google’s Cached Label

Have you ever looked at a page in Google’s cache?  Do a search and by the results for each you can see a “Cached” link.

google cache link

If you click on it you’ll see a page like this.

google cache label

You can see at the top that the page has a huge disclaimer on the site that takes a lot away from your page.  Wouldn’t it be nice to hide it?

Well, it’s easy to.  Just put this javascript on the page and you’ll be all set.

<script language=”JavaScript” type=”text/javascript”>
<!–
var UrlIn = document.URL.split(“//”)[1]; //Get the URL.  Cached URLs only have an IP address.

if (UrlIn.toLowerCase() == UrlIn.toUpperCase())  //If these are the same.  Then there is an IP address for the URL.  This means we should hide it.
    {
var table = document.getElementsByTagName(“table”); //Get a variable to the first table.  This is the one we want to hide.
table[0].style.display = “none”; //Set it’s display to “none” to hide it.
    }
//–>
</script>

This works because the label is the very first table on the cached page.  Also, Google’s cache url is always an IP address.

Kontera Works for Blogs

I recently wrote about Kontera failing on my favorite site.  I then copied the code to this site.

Well, it doesn’t make me much but it makes me more than Adsense.  I just now requested custom Kontera Code for JayGeiger.com (Thanks Vered for commenting).  We’ll see how that performs.

Keep in mind this blog only gets 150-200 unique visitors daily.  Maybe we need to employ some John Chow techniques to monetize this better though.

Updated Adwords Landing Page

I updated our Adwords landing page.

1. Our main package was supposed to be for GameFly Video Game rentals.  I think that IntelliFlix, with a much lower starting price, was probably taking a lot of the clicks.  (We really should be tracking that).  Also re-examining the IntelliFlix offer, I don’t think that it is a very good site.  I didn’t even see on their site where you can rent video games!  I think I may have been losing a lot of customers with this bad experience.

2. We now have 3 pages! Ooooooohhhhh!  We now have 2 review pages.  To be an authority on video game rentals we would need a lot more.  GameFly Video Game Review and GamezNFlix Video Game Review

3. We go rid of some of the stuff in our opening grid.  I thought there was way too much in there and that was probably a turn off for some visitors.

4. We changed the color of the text in the grid.  We also bolded it.  I think this just looks better.

FYI: We haven’t gotten any more conversions yet.  Even when we tried being a bit tricky.  We tried writing ads about “Rending Video Games” instead of “Renting Video Games”.  Some other people/companies have been really successful capitalizing on misspellings.  We have not been.

You Cached my Offer

If you go to our Rent Video Games page you might notice, if you keep an eye on the bottom of your window at the status bar, that we load our offer in an IFRAME.  Why are we doing this?

Well, a lot of people do this to “Stuff” their cookie.  Cookie Stuffing is the act of deceitfully putting an affiliate cookie on a visitor’s computer.  Then when the item/service is purchased, the Cookie Stuffer gets a credit for the sale.

I AM NOT COOKIE STUFFING

The reason that I did this is so that the target page is cached.  This way if you click on the “Buy Now” button, you will almost instantaneously be taken to the offer.  Before I added this IFrame it took several seconds.  By caching the offer, it gives a better user experience.

I didn’t see anything against this but will end it if asked to do so.

BE CAREFUL if you promote things the same way.  Make sure you aren’t breaking any terms of service.

CACHER BEWARE.

Azoogle Ending their Referral Program?

The rumor is that Azoogle is not exactly ending their referral program, the rumor is that they are making it impotent.

CPA-Affiliates has full the story.

The biggest thing is that Azoogle is only paying 2% referrals for 6 months.  Before it was FOREVER.  The other affiliate companies haven’t changed theirs at all.  I know that I didn’t make money for the first year I was active on Azoogle.

A while back Azoogle also ended their gift/incentive program.

Is Azoogle having growing pains?  I really think that they will get their act together soon.

We need to know, are my existing affiliates grandfathered in?  They signed up under different rules and I think the 2% should continue on.

How to Scam AdWords

I haven’t tried this myself but should work.  I am pointing it out because Google needs to figure this kind of thing out.

Basically, you open up a prepaid Visa Account Here or Obopay Here.  Then you sign up for a Google AdWords Account.

You use the prepaid visa card to pay you Google account.  The trick here is to use your pre-paid visa that you opened up with just a few dollars in it.  You would want to use an alternative email address and mailing address.  Also you would never want to login from the same IP address or Computer as you do with your real AdWords account because they would link the two and have you banned.

How does this make you money?  Well lets say your prepaid card had $50 on it.  You would amass a couple hundred dollars worth of fees that Google would not be able to get from you.  Then when it’s said and done you just do the same thing over again.

Pretty Evil huh?  Me… I’m too paranoid to do it.  I’m paranoid about getting in trouble for things I haven’t even done wrong.

This is only for super duper evil people that don’t mind stealing from Google.  I for one love Google and want to stay in their good graces.

Code Monkey

I have no idea where this originally came from and I may be breaking some laws by posting the CodeMonkey MP3 so I might have to take it down if I get asked to by the owner.  So don’t be a douche bag and tell people.

Here’s the Code Monkey Video

Code Monkey Lyrics

Code Monkey get up get coffee
Code Monkey go to job
Have boring meeting with boring manager Rob
Rob say Code Monkey very diligent
…but his output stink !
His code not functional or elegant
What do Code Monkey think?
Code Monkey think maybe manager oughta write goddamn login page himself!
Code Monkey not say it out loud
Code Monkey not crazy, just proud

Code Monkey like Fritos
Code Monkey like Tab and Mountain Dew !
Code Monkey very simple man
…with big warm fuzzy secret heart
Code Monkey like you
Code Monkey like you

Code Monkey hang around at front desk
…tell you sweater look nice
Code Monkey offer buy you soda
Bring you cup bring you ice
You say “no thank you for the soda cause…”
“soda make you fat”
Anyway you busy with the telephone
No time for chat

Code Monkey have long walk back to cubicle
He sit down pretend to work
Code Monkey not thinking so straight
Code Monkey not feeling so great

Code Monkey like Fritos
Code Monkey like Tab and Mountain Dew !
Code Monkey very simple man
…with big warm fuzzy secret heart
Code Monkey like you
Code Monkey like you a lot

Code Monkey have every reason
to get out this place
Code Monkey just keep on working
to see your soft pretty face
Much rather wake up eat a coffee cake
Take bath, take nap
This job fulfilling in creative way
such a load of crap
Code Monkey think someday he have everything even pretty girl like you
Code Monkey just waiting for now
Code Monkey say someday, somehow

Code Monkey like Fritos
Code Monkey like Tab and Mountain Dew
Code Monkey very simple man
with big warm fuzzy secret heart
Code Monkey like you
Code Monkey like you

Google Azoogle 6 New Ad Groups

I just added 6 new ad groups to our Google Azoogle experiment.  I am going to tell you what they are but not for a little bit.  This will be a slightly different Google Azoogle angle.

There has been no news yet other than we are losing money.

So far this month we have paid $92.66 for 349 clicks.  We have made $18.25.

Net Loss for January is $74.41 so don’t ever say I have never given you anything.  I have given you almost $75 so far this year.  Hopefully we can turn this around and eek out a few dollars.

We will see how these new ad groups do and try to brainstorm up a few more.  Feel free to make a suggestion any time people! :)
